In part 1, Dr. Anbar explores how AI could be beneficial to patients, particularly those who have limited access to therapists. In part 2, he sees the potential for abuse and an undermining in trust. Concluding, “a rollout of AI therapy should be undertaken slowly and deliberately, with the input of many thoughtful individuals including from the fields of information technology, linguistics, clinical and research psychology, medicine, education, business, government, ethics, and philosophy.”
